Yes, I know, I am not original. It is not hard to find sites and blogs with equations describing heartshaped curves and surfaces, the effect of exchanging a circle with a heart when defining a sine curve, a romantic extension to the classical Möbius strip activity and even a hearty version of Sierpinski’s triangle.
Inspired by the heart tangram found e.g. on the popular maths site, Mathematische Basteleien, here is a „proof“ that the heart can really be a special symbol: the inverse (reflection about a circle) of the boundary of the heart-tangram is again a heart – if the inversion circle touches both the circular arcs of the original heart 🙂
